A fun pep rally for all our swimmers, and a chance to hear about the amazing rescue work of IJM! New this year: Jon Good, Church Mobilization Director for IJM, will be speaking for our Kickoff! Swimmers and their parents will be equipped and inspired. We’ll talk briefly about the issue of modern-day slavery, IJM's work, fundraising, and essential Freedom Swim event details. There will be pizza, team photos, and time to PLAY on the equipment at PlayN Wisconsin! Parents also enjoy the chance to ask questions and hear more about IJM. Not yet registered, or curious about Freedom Swim? Just drop us a line, and join us!
Please bring socks, water bottle, and a signed PlayN Wisconsin waiver form, to help the line move in quickly.

Youth ages 6-18 are invited to register online for Freedom Swim. Organizers place swimmers into teams of 6-12 swimmers each (we try to keep kids with their friends as much as possible!) one team per lane. This year we will have three Waves (2 hour time slots) of eight teams each, for a total of 24 teams! Swimmers raise donations either flat amounts or pledges per lap (here, a “lap” is a pool length) during the weeks leading up to the event. Every donation helps IJM, no matter the size! If the swimmers average $500 each in donations, we could even raise $100,000! But we don’t want to put any pressure on our swimmers’ families do whatever you feel comfortable with for the fundraising. Keep in mind, though, the highest two fundraising teams will be awarded prizes!
On event day, check-in opens at 9:00am. First Wave swimmers, please arrive by 9:15 to check in, meet with your team for a photo and get ready to swim. Second Wave swimmers, please arrive by 11:30. Third Wave swimmers, please arrive by 1:45. At least one swimmer from a team must be in the water at all times during their two hour Wave in order for that team to qualify for prizes, but each swimmer may choose how much to swim. Team members will work together to make sure there’s a comfortable number of swimmers in the lane at a time. Volunteers will count laps for and encourage the teams. And our MC will announce fundraising totals throughout the event so the swimmers and spectators can hear how they are turning laps into freedom!
After the first hour of each Wave, swimmers will take turns getting a free snack in the lobby. And after the second hour, a yummy lunch will be provided for our young heroes by generous local sponsors!
